The pier 1 recliner chair themselves are comfortable and plush, and assembly is quick, tool-less, and straightforward. The flap on the back rest portion, which you simply slide onto the seat base, is affixed to the base with Velcro -- this pier 1 recliner chairs seems a little chintzy, though when completed this recliner chairpier 1 looks and feels OK. The reclining motion is pretty good, though if you have back problems you may have trouble returning it to the upright position. My main issue so far is that the arms of pier 1 recliner are not held together by much -- the pier 1 recliner chair weight of approximately one 3-year-old is enough to cause the probably-glued-together layers to crack apart, creating a small depression in the otherwise nice, flat arm. This is fantastic for demonstrating your tendency to put your weight on chair arms, though undoubtedly bad for the overall health and usefulness of the pier 1 recliner chair.
I was needing to replace cloth recliners that are primarily used by my grandchildren who live with me. I went back and forth on my options concerned with the heavy use the replacement chairs would undergo. The pier 1 recliner chairs at Walmart popped up in an online ad and I found myself going back to look at reviews several times. We've had the chairs for a few months now, they were easy to put together, look great and are comfortable. As other reviews stated a tall person will find the footrest a bit awkward in the reclining position but it's manageable. I also would have preferred wood instead of the plastic footings but that hasn't been an issue. I originally thought when the grandchildren move out in a few months that I would gift those recliner chairspier 1 to them but not so sure about that now.
This pier 1 recliners fits my 5.0' mother better than her old chair. It is more stable, having only two positions up or down, not med. high then highest, but too hard to push into position as her older chair was. It fits better in the corner, allowing bookcase and artwork to show, and can be easily moved to face the TV. She loves sitting up when eating or reading, then pier 1 recliner chair for TV watching or naps. She has arthritis in her back, and finds it very comfortable. She does use a small neck pillow, however, as the back edge is not as high as her old recliners pier 1. This came in a beautiful brown color which goes with our rug, and was easier to put together than I thought it would be = 2 main parts plus legs which screw on securely. Very well made. Inexpensive enough to get sets of them for a home theatre room!
